Linda A. (Bettag) Berg, 69, Lizton
Linda A. (Bettag) Berg, 69, of Lizton, passed away peacefully at her home on June 10, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed.

She graduated from St. Ferdinand High School in 1966. She attended St. Anthony School of Nursing in Louisville, Kentucky, and became a Registered Nurse in 1969. She began her nursing career at that time and continued to dedicate herself to her beloved career for 44 years, with 37 of them being at Hendricks Regional Health Hospital in Danville, retiring in 2013. After retirement, she spent time volunteering in nursing homes and provided other services for the elderly.
On September 19, 1970, she married her high school sweetheart, Allen J. Berg, and together they created a lovely life together to include two children, Alex and Audra, and four grandchildren, Blake, Korey, Dylan and Lauren. Her passions included nursing, reading, gardening, traveling, theatre, and, most importantly, spending time with her family and friends. She and her husband also enjoyed time at their cabin in French Lick, of which they joyfully shared with family and friends. In addition, Linda was a co-founder of Bear Hugs Giving Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by her family more than 10 years ago to help those in need.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Almeda Bettag. Survivors include her husband, Allen; son, Alex (Carrie) of Pittsboro, Ind.; daughter, Audra Bear (Jim) of Lizton, Ind.; her four grandchildren; brother, Dan Bettag of Ferdinand; sister, Lorna Vertrees of Elizabethtown, Ky.; sister, Mary Lueken of Newburgh; and several nieces and nephews.
Linda’s grace, determination, and positive attitude in the face of adversity made her an inspiration to people who knew her.
Friends and family will gather from 2 until 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 17, 2018, in the David A. Hall Mortuary, 220 N. Maple Street, Pittsboro. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 18, in St. Malachy Catholic Church, Brownsburg, with calling one hour prior. Private Family Inurnment Services will be at a later date in St. Malachy West Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life Service will also be held in Ferdinand at a later date.
Linda’s family extends gratitude to Dr. Michael Callahan and all supporting nurses at St. Vincent Hospital, as well as her family and friends, for their support during her recent health issues.
