LimbHangars holding free hunting and outdoors event for kids

The Patoka Valley LimbHangers, a local National Wild Turkey Federation group, will present Jake’s Day at OFS Brands Cool Springs facility, 9412 E. State Rd. 64, Velpen.

The event is scheduled for Saturday September 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Jake’s Day is a day for youth to explore the outdoors through fun events which help to teach hunting safety, ethics, hunting strategies, principles of habitat management, and sportsmanship.

There will be stations where kids can experience BB gun shooting, trap and target shooting with a shotgun, archery and bow fishing. They will also learn about hunting and deer stand safety.

Besides the great training for kids, there will also be trapping demonstrations, an Air Evac helicopter landing, an Indiana State Police Bomb Squad demonstration and more.

Jakes Day is a FREE event open to all interested youth under the age of 17.

Lunch and all materials needed for target shooting will be provided and there will be several prizes available and a drawing for a free gun open to all youth present.

A parent/guardian must be present with participants.

Only the first 150 youth registered will receive a free t-shirt; so register quickly.
