Lewis to seek Huntingburg Council-at-Large seat

Vickie Lewis has filed to be a candidate for the Huntingburg Common Council-at-Large seat subject to the May Republican Primary.

Lewis, 44, cited her membership on the Huntingburg Stellar Committee as a motivating factor in her candidacy. “I am passionate about the city I call home and excited about the progress that will occur in the next four years.”

Lewis is currently serving on the Huntingburg Planning Commission, Destination Huntingburg Board (Huntingburg’s Main Street Program), Dubois County Junior Achievement Advisory Board, and is the Treasurer of the Herbstfest.

She enjoys volunteering as a teacher for Junior Achievement classes at Southridge Middle School and with other local organizations including the Huntingburg Farmer’s Market. She has served as a member of Huntingburg’s Downtown Revitalization Committee and as President of the Huntingburg Chamber of Commerce.

Lewis stated she is committed to working tirelessly for the betterment of Huntingburg and all of its residents. She is dedicated to assisting in the development of the Heritage Trail, focusing on further business development, and being responsive to residents’ concerns.

She is currently employed as the Human Resources Director for United Minerals Company LLC, headquartered in Huntingburg, where she has worked since 1995.  Prior to joining United Minerals, she was with the United States Department of the Treasury as an Assistant National Bank Examiner.

Lewis graduated in 1993 from the University of Evansville with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting Degree. She is a 2014 graduate of the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series, a nationally recognized leadership program for women.

A resident of Huntingburg for over 15 years, Lewis is proud to call Huntingburg and Dubois County her family’s home.
