Letter to the Editor: We must be accountable
Having lost a sense of individual civic responsibility, it is we, the people, who must be held accountable for the fine mess the politicians have created. Through our own disengagement, and a failure to challenge their corrupt, special interest driven agendas, we have given the green light for the foolishness that now passes for governance. Until we start doing our job, it will remain so.
Without feeling our passion and urgency for common sense solutions, we will remain vulnerable on our southern border. The middle class will continue shrinking as Main Street is sacrificed for the benefit of Wall Street. Good paying jobs will continue being destroyed by radical environmentalists. High taxes and excessive, burdensome regulations will continue driving business overseas. Even our liberty will continue being undermined by the domestic enemies of freedom.
It’s time to have your voice heard, and learn how your representatives expect to serve the average person. Erin Houchin, Republican candidate for Senate District 47 and Andrew Horning, Libertarian candidate for the 8th Congressional District will be speaking and taking questions at the Knights of Columbus Hall, located at 201 E. 30th St in Jasper, on Tuesday, Sept. 9th between 6:30 and 8:00 pm.
The FreedomMakers of Dubois County, a non-partisan organization dedicated to educating the public, invites you to this candidate forum where you can ask the hard questions and follow-up if you’re only offered up meaningless talking points.
