Letter to the Editor: Seitz the right candidate for mayor

During my 68 years as a citizen of Jasper, I have seen many mayors, Democrat and Republican, serving the city of Jasper. In my mind, our current mayor, Terry Seitz, is different than any of Jasper’s previous mayors in that he has a vision for the future growth of the City of Jasper – the precise actions we must employ to stay viable.

I like the way he conducts the business of the city, thoroughly communicating with us each step of the way.

I like how he watches our budget to make sure it’s balanced and how he returns unspent funds each year.

And I like how he matches the pace of leaders at our great, local companies.

Mayor Seitz absolutely understands the importance of hard work. Yet, while I like all these things which he accomplished in just his first term, the one thing that I will never forget about Mayor Seitz was his leadership after the terrible fire that took the lives of three of our citizens late last year.

Early in the morning, he was at the site comforting the families involved, giving his support to the volunteer fireman during their difficult time, and later, calming the citizens of Jasper with a Thanksgiving message of hope.

Jasper is so fortunate to have a man of this caliber serving as our mayor.

I would ask you to join me in voting for Terry Seitz for mayor on November 3, 2015, and return him to office to continue making Jasper even better for our kids and grandkids.
