Letter to the Editor: Job fair part of service to the district

Friday’s job fair at The Ruxer Gym on Jasper’s VUJC campus was a success for both employers and those seeking employment.

This is not the first job fair that has been organized by Congressman Larry Bucshon, each year since being elected the Congressman has hosted job fairs across the 8th district.

Last year, job fairs were held in Evansville, Terre Haute, Vincennes and Jasper. While these cities were chosen due to their population and employment opportunities, both employers and job seekers from across the district have been in attendance.

Part of being elected to a public office is to serve the people and that is what this job fair was all about, an elected official doing his duty to the people of southern Indiana.

Through the help of local organizations like the Jasper Chamber of Commerce, WorkOne Southwestern Indiana and Vincennes University Jasper Campus, Congressman Bucshon is helping to grow our local economy by bringing together jobs and people.

Friday’s job fair included employers looking to fill positions in manufacturing, management, nursing, sales, finance, information technology, and more. From skilled to unskilled, those seeking employment could contact employers directly. With over 30 employers looking to fill more than 500 positions, the job fair was a true service for those looking to better their lives.

It is nice to know that Congressman Bucshon serves the people from the 8th district and strives to better the lives of the people of southern Indiana.
