Letter: Thank you for making Revolutionary Rendezvous a success!

On behalf of the officers and directors of the Dubois County Historical Society and the Rendezvous Committee, I would like to express my gratitude to the individuals and organizations that helped make this event a success.  The purpose of this event was to celebrate/commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and was curated to provide a living history demonstration of life in those pioneer times.

We would specifically like to thank the following benefactors for their generous financial and in-kind support:

– Dubois County Community Foundation
– Visit Dubois County, Inc.
– Jasper Engines and Transmissions
– Uebelhor & Sons
– Universal Design
– Farbest Foods
– Seufert Construction
– German American Bank
– Prairie Farms

Additionally, I want to thank our committee members—Kathy Tretter, Terry Flick, Whitney Lubbers, Gary Eck, and Mike Lindauer—who worked tirelessly to ensure the event was well-planned and staffed. Their efforts secured an excellent lineup of merchants, artisans, traders, and reenactors, and ensured the Friday “School Day” proceeded smoothly and problem-free.

I’d also like to thank all volunteers who helped with parking, providing information, etc., through the three days.

Special thanks to Mike Lindauer’s group, the Early Days Antique Club, for providing numerous pioneer exhibits, including log hewing. Jamie Winner, Ferdinand State Forest manager, was instrumental in providing support and accommodating some of the unique requirements we had in this venue. We also appreciate the assistance from the staff of Visit Dubois County, Inc., as well as Julia Flynn and Marlene Eck for staffing the information tent.

Next, we extend our sincere thanks to the Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous for their essential coaching and guidance. Their expertise, along with the loan of equipment such as large canvas tents, benches, and fire rings, was instrumental to our success.  Specifically, Frank Doughman, Tori Jarvis and Karen Winder were on site the entire weekend, with Frank leading the battle reenactments.

If I have missed anyone, please know that it was not intentional, and we thank you as well.

Finally, I’d like to express my gratitude to all of the schools that scheduled a field trip for Friday, “School Day”.  We feel that the students benefited greatly and enjoyed the day.  All of the general public who came and observed the Rendezvous events and exhibits are deserving of thanks as well.

We welcome any comments on the event.
