Letter regarding the incidents over the weekend from Denny Spinner

I was very disappointed to learn of the recent actions, threats, and property damage. Regardless of which candidate you support or your political beliefs, the type of actions that have taken place over the weekend are reprehensible and cannot be tolerated. None of us want this type of image for our city. These behaviors and actions are not condoned by any of the candidates or their campaign teams.

Having differing political views is healthy. Disagreeing with someone should not and cannot lead to physical threats, property damage and the like. I completely support all efforts by our City Police to investigate these incidents and resolve them.

I ask all the citizens of Huntingburg to step up and put an end to this type of behavior. I urge you to immediately report to the proper authorities any inappropriate actions against anyone who has offered themselves as candidates in this election and their supporters.

Huntingburg is a great city and we cannot let the actions of a few misguided individuals detract from everything we stand for. I join with Mrs. Kemp in asking all those who want to see our city move forward in a positive way to stop any such incidents and take pride in their community.

Let’s all work together to create a positive electoral process in which the citizens have an opportunity to choose from an outstanding slate of candidates, and allow the voters make decisions based on what skills those candidates can bring to the elected positions they seek.
