Letter: New Disney movie great lesson for local proponents of corridor
I and three of my grandkids went to see the Disney movie “Hoppers” over the weekend.
The movie is about a mean old mayor named Jerry who is trying to build a road over a pond and a beautiful nature area called the Glades.
There is a young girl named Mabel, trying to save the area. It’s where she and her grandmother spent many hours while she was growing up. The area means everything to her.
At one point, and I kid you not, the mayor states that the new road will save four minutes of travel time. How ironic! My oldest grandson, Henry, looked at me in disbelief.
The mayor does horrible, shady things to get his road pushed through.
By the end of the movie, the mayor comes to his senses and the Glades are saved, and Mayor Jerry even helps clean up the mess he helped make.
The movie was great, but again, so ironic. It’s like out of some crazy playbook of what’s going on in real life here in good old Dubois County and our neighboring counties to the north.
I will personally pay for Mike Braun, Bill Kaiser, Hank Menke, Mark Schroeder, Doug Bawel, Sue Ellspermann, Ken Mulzer, Mayor Dean Vonderheide, new Mayor Elect, Ryan Craig, Mark Messmer, David Drake, Scott Blazey, Amy Kippenbrock, Colten Pipenger, Elmer Brames, and Travis McQueen to go see this movie.
Hell, I will even throw in the popcorn!
