Letter: Mid-States doesn’t save time; doesn’t make sense
The Mid-States Corridor is championed by Hank Menke and Mike Braun, to name just two of the cabal, as a much-needed logistic route from Nashville, TN to Indianapolis. Their logic, in 2011, was that I-65 was too congested and an alternate route was needed. A recent update shows that, since 2011, I-65 from Nashville to Louisville has been greatly improved. Today, it is mostly a 6 lane interstate.
Digging a little deeper, today, it takes 4 hours and 21 minutes to travel on I-65 from Nashville to Indianapolis, a total of 289 miles. Traveling the proposed Mid-States Corridor route takes 5 hours and 10 minutes, a total of 300 miles. Why would logistics companies want to add time and miles to their routes? More time and more miles is money lost. Another fact the cabal doesn’t want us to know.
Why would economic development entities want to isolate their communities from traffic? As I have previously pointed out, by-passing our communities does not bring economic activity, the activity by-passes our communities. This concept is understood by The Martin County Alliance (Jessica Potts). So the question remains, why would DuBois Strong (Ed Cole) and the Daviess County Economic Development Corporation (Bob Grewe) want to by-pass our communities? Could it be they are part of the DuBois County/Spencer County cabal?
As private organizations we don’t know who their major donors are. Remember when we were finally able to get the donor list for the Mid-States Corridor, it was 95% redacted. Why didn’t those donors want their identities known? Was it the amount of money they donated? Was it because they are politicians? Why? If we were able to obtain a donor list for DuBois Strong and the DCEDC would it be as highly redacted? Just wondering.
The deeper we look into the facts of the Mid-States Corridor the more it seems to be a scheme to line the pockets of a few at the expense of the tax-payers. The Mid-States Corridor has a lot of highfalutin’, wealthy supporters; but, we the people are a much more powerful group. We can and we will Stop the Corridor.
