Letter: Mid-States Corridor a safety issue for children

I would like to respond to Steve Stalling‘s letter about the Mid-States Corridor being safer for our children and grandchildren.

I would like to know how he thinks this road is safer for our children and grandchildren?

The corridor basically splits the southwest school district in half and a good portion of the greater Jasper school corporation also.

That means my grandchildren’s bus will cross the proposed four-lane highway in the morning to pick up Cass Township kids, it then crosses back over four lanes to get back to the elementary school.

The same scenario happens in the afternoon to get these kids home and the driver back to his or her home. That means some buses will cross this four-lane highway four times a day!

180 days a school year time four equals 720 times a year! I repeat… OUR CHILDREN crossing four lanes in a long school bus 720 times a year!

Steve, this road might somehow make your kids and grandkids safer, but it’s a nightmare for mine, their friends and classmates. This road is not an interstate. It will not have safe overpasses. This road is wrong for so many reasons but the greatest is the danger/risk it places on our precious children of Dubois County and their bus drivers.

What happened to Governor Holcomb’s 75 million dollar improvements to  US 231? They just “poof”, vanished into thin air for some reason.

Everyone please think of what’s most important while voting.

Mike Braun will rubber-stamp this project if he is elected our governor.

There are other options, including other Republicans, to vote for in the primaries.

STOP THE MID-STATES CORRIDOR!
