Letter: Let’s take deep breath and keep moving forward

Ok. Let’s all take a deep breath. There has been so much trash talk regarding our newly elected Governor Mike Braun. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and to freedom of speech, but let’s make sure we have all the facts first.

Having spoken with several friends in law enforcement, I know that the Governor took a ride in the State Police helicopter that was part of a monthly, 10-hour minimum training that the pilot was required to fly that month.

The expense of the security at his home is justified. Mike Braun is no longer a Jasper businessman–he is the Governor of Indiana. We have to make sure he is safe at all times, wherever the Governor is, be it in Indianapolis or Haysville.

His security team from the State Police needs a place to monitor his surroundings and keep them safe, too.

The fact is that Mike has been elected by the voters in Indiana. He is trying his best to bring Indiana to national standards as a great place to work, live, educate our children and be proud to live here.

Let’s give Governor Mike Braun more positive comments. He has not forgotten his roots, and he will always take time to talk with anyone with dignity and respect. He listens.

The Governor may do things I don’t always agree with, but we all have the right to agree and disagree. Let’s keep moving forward; let’s spend time and energy spreading the good news about all that’s happening around Indiana and remember to breathe.
