Letter: Keep saying no to Mid-States Corridor
The Mid-States Corridor is a hotly debated issue, yet not by those in our state and local governments. This is due in part to the fact that they, the elected officials, are either totally on board with the Mid-States Corridor project or just don’t want to rock the boat.
I have sent several letters to Shane Lindauer, Mark Messmer, Eric Bassler, and Mike Braun with no response. In fact, only Eric Bassler has ever responded. His negative response to any new terrain highway is lessened by his lack of legislative action to stop the Mid-States Corridor Project.
The Lochmueller Group and INDOT have doubled down on the outdated and false narrative in the Tier 1 study. They have provided no new updates with real data. Issues like increased economic development, safety, traffic congestion, destruction of farm and forest lands and updates cost-benefits. They have chosen to pursue intimidation and lawfare to get their way. They are threatening landowners who will not give permission to enter their lands; and recently, they have resorted to a new type of trespassing, the use of drones.
The Property Rights Alliance (PRA) is doing what it can. It holds weekly meetings to provide information to resist the intrusive behavior of the Lochmueller Group and INDOT. Their membership and coffer is growing as more and more people realize that we can fight city hall. The PRA and it’s legal representative are doing more and more of the heavy lifting in the fight against the Corridor; but, we the people need to stay actively involved. Stay alert don’t allow Lochmueller or INDOT to trespass and continue to say no.
Remember, subcontractors are representatives of the Lochmueller Group and INDOT and are bound by all restrictions placed on Lochmueller and INDOT. They are not allowed to trespass. Always demand their identification and affiliation; and then say no.
Recently, in Martin County a wolf in sheep’s clothing has reappeared and is attempting to subvert the opposition to the Corridor. This wolf is a self-serving interloper and cares only for himself and his side-kicks. They are selling out the Amish community and everyone in Martin and Daviess County. Be on the alert for these same interlopers to make their appearance at all city and county government meetings. They are not to be trusted.
We can stop the Mid-States Corridor by standing strong and standing together. We must continue our mantra of just saying “No”.
