Letter: It’s all about money, power and greed
I was listening to an interesting Outside|In podcast recently about our historic reliance on fossil fuels to power this country and why for decades the fossil fuel industry knew the issues around it – polluting the environment, climate change, and our public health, but ignored it. For decades there has been resistance to available clean alternative energy sources. So, what happened and why? It all comes down to corporate greed, power, and the profits/money by the fossil fuel industry and their executives.
While I continued to listen to the podcast, I couldn’t help but make the same connection to what has been the driving force behind the effort for the Mid-States Corridor. Money, power, and greed are what it is all about. INDOT doesn’t need the Mid-States Corridor. They have plenty of roads and bridges to fix. They have plenty of existing roads where they can add passing lanes and improve intersections for better traffic flow. In fact, they have more than they can handle and more than they have funds for. Again, it comes down to corporate greed, the drive for more power, and more profits/money. In the case of the Mid-States Corridor, we all know who the players are.
