Letter: Downtown Huntingburg businesses open and parking is available
In 2014, Huntingburg was awarded the Stellar Community designation by the State of Indiana. This designation is a partnership between the city and several state agencies that has allowed our community to move forward with the planning, design and engineering for several projects. Over the next couple of years, we will continue to advance our projects, moving them towards construction.
One of the infrastructure projects we have been working towards is the replacement of the waterline along 4th Street. We are excited to report that construction of this project has begun, and as such, we want to remind residents of two important notes: 4th Street businesses are open and parking is available!
As our Stellar projects move into various construction phases, there will be some inconveniences – which means support to the downtown businesses is critical. Construction on the 4th Street Waterline project began on Monday, April 25, 2016. As a result, there are a number of travel pattern changes and a few parking restrictions on the street.
I want to thank everyone who has attended the various public information sessions regarding this, and all, our Stellar projects.
As always, we will continue to keep everyone informed regarding the construction progress. Updates will be regularly posted on our website http://www.huntingburg-in.gov and the City’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. Please contact City Hall at (812) 683-2211 any time with questions or concerns.
On behalf of the City, Huntingburg Chamber of Commerce, Huntingburg Merchants Association and Destination Huntingburg, we look forward to seeing you downtown and we thank you for continuing to make Huntingburg, “A City Like No Other!”
Dennis W. Spinner, Mayor
City of Huntingburg
