Letter: Don’t forget, voters have chance to change congress too

We are all focused on the presidential race with Trump, Cruz, Kasich, Hillary or Sanders. Let me remind you again, this is also the chance to fix a broken Congress, which is a third of the federal government.

As of today, the average congressional approval rating is 14.5 percent. If you are like me, you are part of the 85.5 percent that believes our federal government is broken. To fix Congress, you need to vote to remove the people in power. To remove those people, you need to remove those who support them. In 2016, this means voting in the Republican primary and voting for Marlin Stutzman for US Senate.

Marlin has been part of a positive government reforming process. He worked with Mitch Daniels to turn Indiana around to be pro-liberty and an economically growing state. Marlin Stutzman was co-sponsor of the concealed carry handgun law and now has an A+ rating from the NRA. He was part of the team to cap property taxes and turn a $1 billion deficit into a $1 billion surplus. He was elected to Congress in 2010 to bring this same mindset to Congress but as we all know D.C. and Congress didn’t want changed. He clashed with the establishment, and was seen as an outsider, but Marlin stuck to his beliefs even when threatened. He authored the 2015 conservative budget that balances the federal budget and has authored a bill to place term limits on Congress.

Many of you remember his opponent Todd Young. He ran for Congress in 2010 as that young lawyer seeking to bring positive, conservative change. He spoke at the Freedom Makers twice and had a very well attended town hall. I went door to door for him. I supported him in 2010.

I don’t anymore. He went to D.C. and was changed. He joined the establishment and reneging on his 2010 campaign promises. Now Mitch McConnell, and various groups who are part of the problem (US Chamber of Commerce, etc.), have dropped over $1 million in campaign support for Young just this past month. $1 million in one month. Bought hook, line, and sinker.

Marlin, though, is consistent. My family and friends in northeast Indiana tell me that he hasn’t changed since he was first elected in 2002. Indy and Washington didn’t change him. Marlin is consistently the highest ranking conservative in Indiana, while Young grades around an ‘F’. Marlin is fighting for you and me, and if he loses this primary, he has said he will go back to farming.

He has no high paying lobbyist job waiting for him like most politicians do. He is an ordinary Hoosier trying to make a difference by reform DC. He is the type of guy to get excited to vote for, so get excited and ask for the Republican primary ballot when you vote, and vote for Marlin Stutzman for U.S. Senate!

Additionally, I support Dr. Richard Moss for Congress.

The more reform you can bring, by removing those who are part of the system in D.C., the better off the future of the country will be.
