Letter: Consider Secretary of State candidates carefully

The Indiana Secretary of State race will be top of the statewide ballot for the November 3rd election. This race is of particular importance as it impacts “chartering of new businesses, regulation of the securities industry, oversight of state elections, commissioning of notaries public, registration of trademarks, and licensing of vehicle dealerships throughout Indiana” according to https://www.in.gov/sos/about-sos/about-the-office/.

The current Secretary of State, Diego Morales, (affiliated with the Republican Party) has spent hundreds of thousands of tax payer dollars on personal vehicles, international trips, and no-bid contracts, while also hiring non-citizens for state positions. 

When voting for Secretary of State, Hoosiers should ask themselves, “do we want an elected official who will continue the streak of corruption and capitulate to political party bosses or one who will identify and eliminate past mistakes while bettering Indiana for all Hoosiers?”
