Letter: A thank you to Providence Home
We are at a time in our lives when it seems many around us are in nursing homes. This we suppose has become part of the cycle of life. We write this letter to recognize and express gratitude for the efforts of all those that provide care in these places. From his initial diagnosis until he was laid to rest we thank all those that were a part of his journey. Each of you provided John and his family with strength and comfort. We are humbled by your humanity.
Although we in no way wish to diminish the contributions of so many we feel compelled to recognize one organization in particular, Providence Home in Jasper.
The level of caring and compassion demonstrated by the entire staff of this institution was far beyond any others we experienced. Their focus was not on filling beds but on the residents who they treat more like their own. Though this diamond may not be as polished as some of the other facilities in the area it’s true worth is in the Christian values that are the foundation of their service. Those values recognize and respect the dignity of all who live within its walls. No matter how troubled the individual or difficult the situation their selfless service reflected their acceptance that every resident is someone’s mother, father, brother, sister, son or daughter but most of all they are a child of God.
We know that for Dad being able to express his faith through daily Mass and Rosary in Providence Home’s beautiful chapel gave him an inner strength and comfort. This allowed him to accept his struggle with Lewy Body Dementia and become content with his situation until he passed.
Although time may rob us of their names and faces it will never take from our hearts the memory of the depth of their compassion and the love they showed us all.
