Leroy H. Witte, 70, of Ireland, passed away at 1:45 CDT on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville.

Leroy was born in Ferdinand, Indiana on November 1, 1944 to Emil and Lucille (Auffart)Witte. He married Kathleen Temple on July 2, 1966 in St. Mary’s Church in Ireland, IN.

Leroy was a veteran of the Indiana Army National Guard and a member of the American Legion Post #147.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland and the Jasper Outdoor Recreation.

He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.

he is survived by his wife, Kathleen Witte of Ireland; two sons, Mark Witte and wife Keri of Celestine and Keith Witte and wife Lisa of Ireland; four grandchildren, Cole and Max Witte and Hannah and Claire Witte: two brothers, Dennis Witte and wife Agnes of Huntingburg and Allan Witte and wife Carol of Velpen; three sisters, Mary Ann Witte of Jasper, Dorothy Hoffman of Ferdinand and Carol Schipp and husband Kenny of Ferdinand.

Preceding him in death was one son, Kurt Witte; one sister, Alberta Ebert; and two brothers who passed in infancy.

Funeral services for Leroy H. Witte will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, IN, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, IN.
