Leonard J. Fischer, 79, St. Anthony

Leonard J. Fischer, 79, St. Anthony, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, at The Waters of Huntingburg in Huntingburg.

He was born in St. Meinrad on March 6, 1937, to Norbert and Lena (Vaal) Fischer. He married Clara Mae Stemle on Nov. 11, 1967, in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Schnellville.

Mr. Fischer retired from Central Concrete Supply and Hasenour Motor Company in St. Anthony. He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish-St. Anthony Of Padua Catholic Church, St. Anthony Community Club, St. Anthony Conservation Club and Mariah Hill Young Men’s Institute.

Surviving are his wife, Clara Mae Fischer; a son, David (Emerald) Fischer of Birdseye; a daughter, Susan Richardson of Huntingburg; three sisters, Sylvia Pfeiffer of Newburgh, Mary (David) Ziliak of Ferdinand and Carol (Ted) Harpenau of Greenwood; three brothers, Henry Fischer, Kenny (Sarah) Fischer and Stanley (Patty) Fischer, all of Ferdinand; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Pat Albert, and a sister-in-law, Shirley Fischer.

The funeral will be at noon Thursday in Divine Mercy Parish-St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in St. Anthony. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and after 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
