Lawrence D. Stevens, 88

Lawrence D. Stevens, 88, of Gas City, passed away at 12:10 am on Friday, February 3, 2012, at Colonial Oaks Nursing Home in Marion from complications related to Parkinson’s Disease.
He was born August 15, 1923, in Marion, to the late Otto and Martha Stevens. He married Frances Sears on July 1, 1950, she survives.
Lawrence was an Army-Air Force Veteran of WWII. He owned and operated Stevens Service Center in Grant County, until his retirement in 1985. He loved cars and anything mechanical. He was a member of the First Christian Church and Gas City Masonic Lodge #645.

He was preceded in death by his son, Joe Stevens; brothers, Bernard, Alfred, and George Stevens; sisters, Waneta Long, Margaret Orsborne, and Delores Myers.
Lawrence donated his body to the IU Medical School. Rev. David Shephard will be officiating a Memorial Service at 4 pm on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the First Christian Church, 401 East North D Street, Gas City. A Masonic Memorial Service will immediately follow. Calling hour will be held one hour before services.
