Lawrence A. Brosmer, 92, Schnellville

Lawrence A. Brosmer, 92 of Schnellville, passed away at 5:25 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

Lawrence was born in Schnellville on July 24, 1928, to Joseph A. and Matilda K. (Gunselman) Brosmer. 

He married Pauline Mehringer on October 6, 1951, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana. She preceded him in death on December 29, 2019.

Lawrence was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #493 in St. Anthony, Indiana.

He was a farmer in the Schnellville area and also retired from Aristokraft Cabinets in Jasper.  

He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish – Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Schnellville Community Club, and the Schnellville Conservation Club.

He enjoyed going to auctions and antique tractor shows, spending time on the farm, and he always reserved Sunday for attending church and spending time with his family. His family was the focus of his life. 

He is survived by five daughters, Mary Fromme (Joseph) of Jasper, Karen Fuhrman (Glenn) of Schnellville, Rose Loepker (Donald) of Schnellville, Susan Merkley (George) of St. Anthony, and Janice Thayer (Douglas) of Schnellville; four sons, Paul Brosmer (Julia) of Schnellville, Eugene Brosmer and fiancé, Linda Fendel, of Schnellville, Larry Brosmer of Schnellville, and John Brosmer (Diane) of Schnellville; 17 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren. 

Preceding him in death besides his wife were three grandchildren, Joseph Fromme Jr.,  Robert Kern, and Nathan Brosmer; four sisters, Dorothy  Messmer, Anna Mae Brosmer, Veronica Hochgesang, and Catherine Hartings; and five brothers, Isidore, Cletus, Edward, Philip, and Joseph Brosmer.   

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lawrence A Brosmer will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The American Legion Post #493 will conduct military graveside rites.    

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass time at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday. Mask and Social Distancing will be required for the visitation and Mass.
