LaVon K. Michel, 73, Huntingburg
LaVon K. Michel, 73, of Huntingburg, passed away on Sept. 13, 2023, at The Waters Memory Care Unit in Huntingburg.

She was born on April 8, 1950, in Princeton, Ind., to the late Rosco and Mary (Morrison) Wilson.
Lavon graduated from Francisco High School in 1966, earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Indiana State University in 1972 and then earned her Master of Science in Education from Indiana State University in 1994.
She worked several years for the National Park Service at Lincoln Memorial in Lincoln City, Indiana, retired from the Southwest Dubois School Corporation in 2008 after 28 years of teaching and was an adjunct teacher for Vincennes University Jasper for 15 years. She loved her pet cats and Alaskan Malamutes dearly, and enjoyed jewelry beading and collecting Longaberger baskets. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Francisco.
LaVon is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 51 years, Byron Michel of Huntingburg; brother, David (Norma) Wilson of Shelbyville, Ky.; niece, Kelly Wilson of Atlanta, Ga.; nephew, Curtis Wilson of Shelbyville, Ky.
Visitation will be on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. CST at the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Fort Branch. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at the church, with Pastor John Heumann officiating. The burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Donations may be made in her honor to your favorite charity, the Hadi Shrine or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
