LaVerne C. Lueken, age 85, of Jasper passed away at 7:55 p.m. on Tuesday (July 2, 2013) at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

LaVerne was born on April 2, 1928 in Jasper, Indiana to Fred and Matilda (Beck) Sermersheim. She married Albert Lueken on June 29, 1948 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.

She was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper in the Jasper area for many years.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, the Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella.

She enjoyed making applique and embroidered quilt blocks for Holy Family Catholic Church, which she did for many years. She also liked to travel.

Becky Eckert, and her husband Tom, Evansville, IN

 Bill Lueken, and his wife, Diana, Jasper, IN

Five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren

Funeral services for LaVerne C. Lueken will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday (July 8, 2013) at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday (July 7, 2013) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and one hour before services from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
