Laurena Zehr, 94

Laurena Zehr, age 94, of Jasper, IN, passed away at 12:35 p.m. on Sunday, September, 8 2013 at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, IN.

Laurena was born on April 4, 1919 in Dubois Indiana to John and Amelia (Schneider) Friedman. She married George O. Zehr on September 26, 1937 at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois, IN. He preceded her in death on February 11, 1988.

She retired from Kimball International – Jasper Corporation, where she had worked for many years.

She was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois.

She enjoyed quilting, refinishing antique trunks, crafts, and was a seamstress.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jo Zehr, Hermitage, TN; two sons, Jerry Zehr, and spouse Dawn, French Lick, IN, and Dan Zehr and spouse Joanna, Eckerty, IN; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren;  and one sister, Martina Streicher, Jasper.

Preceding her in death besides her husband is one son, Larry Zehr, one grand-daughter, Kelli Rankins, two sisters, LaVerne Kluesner and Elvira Denu, and four brothers, Cyril, Edwin, Cletus, and Raymond Friedman.

Funeral services for Laurena Zehr will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September, 11 2013 at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois, IN, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September, 10 2013 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
