‘Last Minute’ wins the WBDC Country Showdown

The WBDC Country Showdown presented by Mercy Urgent Care concluded on Friday, June 7th, naming Last Minute of Yorktown, Indiana, as the winner in front of a sold-out crowd at the Jasper Arts Center.

Last Minute’s combination of musical talent, stage presence, charisma, and musicianship caught the attention of the judges. Jenna Rose of New Castle was the first runner-up, and Rick LeDune of Spencer was the second runner-up. Callie Grace of Jasper took home the “People’s Choice Award” voted on by those in attendance.

This year’s judges included Matt Eckert, Lance Yearby, and Anthony Tarullo. The WBDC Country Showdown contestants were backed by the band “No Fences: The Ultimate Garth Brooks Tribute.

Radio Station 100.9FM WBDC also presented a check for $1,009.00 to the local non-profit Tri-CAP, using proceeds from advance ticket sales to the event.

Now in its 42nd year, the WBDC Country Showdown finds the area’s most promising country music talent, giving these performers a chance to hone their skills and win great prizes. From the first winners, “Crossfire” in 1982, to this year’s winner, “Last Minute”, the WBDC Country Showdown has proved to be a must-see event for country music fans of all ages.
