Lady Raiders continue win streak; trounce Blackhawks

The Southridge Lady Raiders Softball team extended their win streak to 3 games with a 14-2 trouncing of the visiting Springs Valley Blackhawks last night in Huntingburg.

Now 10-5 on the season, Southridge scored 4 runs in the 1st inning to set the early tone for the game. The Raiders scored two runs in the 3rd, then blew the game open as they had 12 at-bats and scored 8 runs in their 4th and final inning.

Vanessa Kern and TJ Woebkenberg had two hits each and Alli Michel (pronounced Mitchell), Mariah Ferguson, and Allison Bounds each doubled. Kendyl Dearing, Gabby Treat, and Amy Ingle also singled for Southridge.

It was another strong night for sophomore pitcher Allison Bounds, now 7-3, holding the Blackhawks to only 3 hits and striking out 6.

The Raiders travel to Reo to take on PAC rival South Spencer tonight, then will be home on Thursday against Tecumseh and again Friday hosting Barr Reeve on Senior Night.
