L4G announces leadership change

Living For God (L4G), a Dubois County faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening our communities through essential services and support, announced a leadership transition as founder Amilcar “Mo” Peraza is stepping down as president, with Alex Zehr assuming the role effective 1 January 2026.

The leadership change represents a carefully planned transition.

“This transition has come through prayer, discernment, and obedience to God’s leading,” Peraza explained. “Over the past several months, I have sensed the Lord clearly showing me that this is the right season for L4G to take its next step.”

Zehr brings substantial leadership credentials to his new role, including ownership of several successful businesses and extensive experience in mission work and community projects. His appointment follows a thorough selection process that emphasized alignment with L4G’s core mission and values.

Reflecting on his business experience, Zehr said, “It is these experiences, I believe that will help me to lead this team to the success L4G has had and more. I also have vast experience in mission work, community projects, and serving opportunities.”

Zehr’s motivation for accepting the role stems from his religious convictions. “My favorite scripture comes from Matthew 22:37-40: You should love God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it. You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” he explained. “Because of this scripture I have always looked for ways to serve and help others.”

Peraza

Rather than stepping away entirely, Peraza will continue to support the organization in an advisory role during the transition period. “While I am stepping away from daily leadership, I am not stepping away from the mission God placed on my heart,” he said.

Both leaders emphasized that L4G’s fundamental mission and approach will remain consistent. The organization continues to provide clothing, meals, and other necessities to community members in need while supporting others engaged in similar service work.

“I do not intend to change anything,” Zehr stated. “L4G is about serving our communities with the love of Christ and that is what we will continue to do.”

His vision for the organization focuses on serving “with love that comes from Christ, to continue to do the great works that L4G has done in the past, and to just be obedient for whatever God calls us to do in the future.”

Peraza echoed this commitment to continuity, noting that “supporters can expect continuity in mission, values, and heart. While leadership roles may change, God remains the same. L4G will continue to operate with integrity, compassion, and faith.”
