Kimball 15th Street location to close

Thursday, employees at Kimball’s 15th Street plant learned the parent company, HNI, would be closing the location.

According to the company, HNI is consolidating production and personnel from the Jasper 15th Street facility into other existing operations in Jasper and Salem, Indiana, as well as other HNI facilities. The transition of production and employees is expected to occur over time, continuing into 2027.

“HNI is optimizing its manufacturing footprint to better align operations and further advance its manufacturing centers of excellence, thereby continuously improving our business and more effectively serving customers,” said Kimball International Vice President, Member & Community Relations Emily Hill. 

The company did not state how many employees work at the plant.

“HNI anticipates minimal job loss as part of these changes and is working to transition 15th Street employees in other roles and locations based on business needs,” Hill said.

The company did not have a statement regarding the property’s disposition after the transition.

“Plans for the 15th Street facility will evolve with manufacturing footprint planning,” Hill said.
