Kent L. Humbarger, 76

Kent L. Humbarger, age 76 of Jasper passed away at 6:48 p.m. Monday (January 2, 2012) in St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, Indiana.

He was born on September 17, 1935 at Columbia City, Indiana to Edgar and Marcella (Tulley) Humbarger. He married Mary Jane Gilliatt August 31, 1958 in Washington, Indiana.

Kent graduated from Washington High School Class of 1953 and received his Civil Engineer Degree and his Land Surveyors Degree from Purdue University in 1959.He served in the Indiana National Guard from 1959 – 1967.

Kent retired from the City of Jasper as the city engineer where he had worked for past 17 years; After college he had worked for the State of Indiana and Dubois County doing engineer work. In 1972 he joined the Hasenour & Sternberg excavating Company as a partner in the operations.

He is a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church – Masonic Blue Lodge in Washington -32nd degree Hadi Shrine in Evansville, Indiana- Elks Lodge in Washington and American Legion Post # 147 and the V.F.W. Post # 673 in Jasper.

One grandson, Kyle Humbarger and three great grandchildren

One sister, Carol Wade, Pulaski, VA

Funeral services for Kent L. Humbarger will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday (January 6, 2012) in Redeemer Lutheran Church with burial to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Washington, Indiana. The Rev. Adam Ruschau will officiate.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Thursday (January 5, 2012) at the Becher – Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at church.
