Kendall elected 8th District Democratic secretary

Jasper resident Teresa Kendall, communications director for the Dubois County Democratic Party and 2020 Democratic House District 63 candidate, was elected the secretary of the 8th Congressional District Democratic Party.

Mrs. Kendall was opposed by Sandy Stewart, former longtime, Knox County Democratic Chair until the March 7th, 2021 reorganization. Kendall is the first person from Dubois County to serve as secretary on the 8th District Democratic Central Committee, and the first person from Dubois County to be elected a district committee officer in over 40 years.

“I am looking forward to increasing communications and supporting the 8th District Democrat County parties, as well as assisting our new chair Thomasina Marsili,” Kendall said.

Thomasina Marsili, 2020 Democratic 8th District Congressional candidate from Owen County, was elected the new chairperson for the Eighth Congressional District Democratic Party on Saturday for a term of four years, from 2021-25.

Re-elected without opposition for District Vice-Chairperson and District Treasurer respectively, were Ed Adams and Jeff Lehman.

The 8th District extends from Vermillion County north of Terre Haute to Evansville and consists of 19 Counties, about 1/5 of all Counties in Indiana. The Eighth consists of Clay, Crawford, Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Greene, Knox, Martin, Owen, Parke, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Sullivan, Vanderburgh, Vermillion, Vigo, and Warrick Counties.

The 2021 8th District Democratic meeting was held virtually by the party because of Covid. The District Chairs and Vice-Chairs from all nine Congressional Districts in Indiana will hold a virtual meeting on Saturday, March 20th to elect a new State Committee.
