Katherine Beth Smith, 65

The world is a lot dimmer today with the loss of our beloved wife, mom, sister and Nanny, Katherine Beth Smith.

Katherine Beth Smith was born on September 5, 1958, to James and Patricia (Murray) Wilcox in Evansville.

Kathy met the love of her life, Gary Smith and they were married on February 6, 2009.

Kathy was something else and could learn to do anything; nothing stopped her.  She learned how to sew, and before the week was over, she was making quilts. She loved to gift family and friends with her quilts. They were definitely a gift of love and will be cherished by those who received them forever.

Kathy was a beloved Nanny to her four grandchildren. The kids all knew they could ask Nanny for anything, and she would get it. She did not ever tell them “no.”

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Randy.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Gary, and her four children, Misty (Matt) Ewing of McCordsville, Erik (Xiaonan) Singer of Merrillville, Nick (Katrina) Smith and Jamie (Star) Smith of Windsor, Canada. She also leaves behind her brother, Mark Wilcox, and sister, Shelly (Lonnie) Jones of Huntingburg, and nieces and nephews.

Nanny will be greatly missed by Molli Ewing, Hunter, Mason and Beau Smith and her furry partner in crime, Ming Ming.

Don’t worry Mom, we’ll all float on.

Service Information:  Visitation, Monday, November 13, 2023, 2:00 to 7:00 pm, Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN 46410. No funeral services.
