Karen Sue Werne, 64, Okeechobee, Fla.

Karen Sue Werne died June 22, 2021. She was born December 7, 1956, in Huntingburg.

A resident of Buckhead Ridge, Okeechobee, Florida since 1979, she was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Moose lodge in Buckhead Ridge. She enjoyed camping, playing bingo, helping others, and baking.

Mrs. Werne was preceded in death by her son, Josh Werne: father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerome and Lovie Werne; and brother-in-law, Gary Schnarr.

She is survived by her husband of more than 40 years, Pat Werne; daughter Jenessa Cowart; two granddaughters, Katarena and Leyla: parents, Robert and Beverly Giesler, of Birdseye; four sisters, Roxanne Hasenour (Mark) of Jasper, Carla Schnarr, of Huntingburg, Joyce Welp (Jack), of Birdseye, and Molly Egg (Brett) of Rogers, Ark.; her loving dog, Buckshot.

Services were held on June 28, 2021 at Buxton and Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.

Interment was followed at Ortona Cemetery.
