Karen L. Songer, 60

Karen L. Songer, 60, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

She was born July 26, 1954 in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Allen “Pickle” and Nancy (Scott) Hilgeman.  She was united in marriage to Mike Songer on April 2, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Karen worked in the health care field as a qualified medical aide; enjoyed reading; and was a member of Salem United Church of Christ.  She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Songer of Huntingburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and James Barkley of Huntingburg; two sisters, Johannah Seng of Huntingburg and Melissa Seifert of Haysville; one brother, Brett Hilgeman of Westminster, Colo.; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services for Karen Songer will be held at 2:00 p.m., EST on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Mayo Cemetery near Duff.  Pastor Mark West will officiate at the service.
