Juanita S. Boehm, 73, Jasper

Juanita S. Boehm, 73, of Jasper, passed away with family by her side at 4:50 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Serenity Springs Senior Living at Northwood in Jasper.

Juanita was born in Jasper, Indiana, on February 9, 1953, to Edward and Dorothy (Seifert) Boehm.

In her youth, in the 1960s, Juanita was a pioneer in girls’ and women’s sports. She won several city tennis championships and participated in the 1967 Jaycees State Tournament. In 1966 and 1967, she ran in the first two Jasper grade school track meets, winning the 660 and 880 races.

Juanita was a 1971 Jasper High School graduate. She went on to receive her degree at Sullivan Business College.

She worked for Hillary Blessinger’s CPA firm for 22 years. She was then elected Jasper City Clerk-Treasurer, a role she held for 24 years, the longest term of any person. Because of her inspiring work, she was awarded the Circle of Corydon Award by the Governor. She was awarded the Key to the City of Jasper, the AIM award, the JHS Outstanding Alumni and was a finalist for the Athena Award.

She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, having served on the Finance Commission for 22 years. She served on the Memorial Hospital Palliative Board, Community Meals Board, RSVP volunteer, St. Ann’s Society, Deaconess Memorial Auxiliary, Dubois County Democrats, Jasper Moose and was a past member of the Jasper Jaycees and donated to many civic and city organizations.

She is survived by two sisters, LaVerne Lechner and Beth (Chris) Waltz; two brothers, Lee (Kathy) Boehm, Don and “Yog” (Linda) Boehm, all of Jasper; sisters-in-law, Becky Boehm of Jasper and Arlene Boehm of Harbert, Mich.; her Godmother, Theresia Seifert of Dale; and several nieces and nephews.   

She is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Larry Boehm and Allen Boehm and one brother-in-law, Jim Lechner.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Juanita S. Boehm will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper with entombment to follow at Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum

A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, at the Becher Kluesner North side chapel.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Serenity Springs Senior Living at Northwood and Heart-to-Heart Hospice for the care of Juanita.
