Juanita Jewel (Weaver) Kunkel, 93, French Lick

Juanita Jewel (Weaver) Kunkel, 93, of French Lick, entered into eternal rest on March 9, 2021, at The Forum in Indianapolis, Indiana.

She was born in Orange County, Indiana on March 3, 1928, to Estel and Gladys (Jackman) Weaver.

Juanita married Dwight Robert Kunkel on April 16, 1947, and he preceded her in death on September 14, 1999.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Harold and Glenn Weaver.

Juanita was a 1946 graduate of French Lick High School, a member of the West Baden First Baptist Church, a Charter Member of Phi Beta Psi which she joined in 1949, and remained active in the Associate Chapter.

She retired from United Communications in 2000 where she had worked as a bookkeeper.

Juanita was a seamstress, painter, and created beautiful knitted and crocheted items that she always shared with family and friends.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald Kunkel of Bloomington and David Kunkel (Lori) of Jasper; one daughter, Janalyn Van Emon (Michael) of Carmel; one sister, Brenda Weaver Prickett of Indianapolis; one sister-in-law, Jo Adams Weaver of Franklin, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Derek Van Emon (Emma) of Indianapolis, Ben Kunkel (Jordan) of West Lafayette, and Libby Kunkel of Pittsburgh, Penn.; two great-grandchildren, Drew and Maggie Van Emon.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home, French Lick, with burial to follow at Ames Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to West Baden First Baptist Church, 8313 State Rd 56, West Baden Springs, IN 47469 or Ames Chapel Cemetery Fund, c/o Ryan Barwe, 6487 W. County Rd 175S, French Lick, IN 47432.

Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, guests are required to wear masks and practice social distancing (6 feet or more).
