Juanita E. Weisman, 90, Portage

Juanita E. Weisman, 90, of Portage, Ind., passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at the Valparaiso Hospice Center, Valparaiso.

She was born on December 20, 1925 at Haysville, Indiana to Clifford and Mathilda (Neukam) Hoffman. She was married to Delbert Weisman on April 10, 1947. He preceded her in death on November 29, 2006.

She retired from Sears where she worked in the restaurant deli department in Clarksville, Ind. and also Merrillville, Ind. She was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Merrillville.

She enjoyed making cross-stitch quilts for all her children and grandchildren and loved cooking and playing bingo.

She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Riechers and husband Don of Crown Point, Ind.; six sons, Terry Weisman and wife Marie of Jasper, Darrell Weisman and wife Mary of Ireland, Don Weisman of Arroyo Grande, Cal., Dale Weisman and wife Debbie, LA Porte, Ind., Dean Weisman and his fiancé Heidi of Mazon, Ill. and Darren Weisman and wife Kim of Valparaiso; 14 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; brother, Roger Hoffman and wife Rosie of Haysville.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are one brother George Hoffman, who died in infancy.

Funeral services for Juanita Weisman will be held at noon Saturday, June 18, 2016, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper with burial to follow in Community Cemetery in Haysville. The Rev. Timothy Weisman will officiate.

Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016, until service time at the funeral home.
