Joyce Mae Stilwell, 85, Algiers

Joyce Mae Stilwell, 85, of Algiers, passed away at 5:24 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Amber Manor Care Center in Petersburg.

Joyce was born in Velpen on January 21, 1933, to Albert and Zelpha (Stephens) McLaughlin. She married Ray Richard Stilwell on June 2, 1952, in Arthur, Indiana.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Brenton Chapel Church of Christ in Petersburg.

She enjoyed cooking, family get-togethers, spending time at their place in Florida, and being a proud, dedicated military wife.

Surviving are her husband, Ray Richard Stilwell of Algiers; three daughters, Brenda Hamm (Don) of Petersburg, Donna Herold (Daniel) of Vida, Ore. and Margaret Evans (William) of Algiers; one son, Stephen Stilwell (Marlene) of Henderson; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Hardin of Otwell, Lillian Ruckriegle of Ireland, Marie Gilliand (Daniel) of Petersburg, and Ruth Ann Nelson (Stanley) of Otwell; one brother, James McLaughlin (Shirley) of Otwell.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Funeral services for Joyce Mae Stilwell will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Brenton Chapel Church of Christ in Petersburg, Indiana, with burial to follow in McClure Cemetery in Algiers, Indiana.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at the Brenton Chapel Church of Christ in Petersburg, and from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Wednesday at the church.
