Joseph William Wehr, 80

Joseph William Wehr, 80, of St. Henry, Indiana, passed away at 8:27 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Brookside Village in Jasper.

He was born January 19, 1935 in Celestine to William Herman and Ethel (Faulkenburg) Wehr. He married Virginia Ann Schipp on June 11, 1955 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

Mr. Wehr retired from D.M.I. Furniture where he worked for 39 years as a truck driver and warehouse manager. He then went to work for Enterprise Car Rental in Jasper for 12 years.

He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church for the past 24 years and St. Mary’s Catholic Church for 36 years prior to that. He was a member of the Huntingburg Conservation Club for 25 years where he held the position of membership secretary and the Y.M.I. Club for 49 years. He enjoyed traveling, driving his car, fishing and woodworking. No matter what he did, his family always came first.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Ann “Ginny” Wehr, who passed away September 7, 2012; and his step grandson, Brad Foerster.

He is survived by three daughters and three son-in-laws, Kathy (Donald) Foerster of Ferdinand, Cindy K. (Charles “Chuck”) Meyer of Jasper and Denise (Dean) Miller of Jasper; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Douglas Wehr of Fishers and Timothy (Jackie) Wehr of Huntingburg; one brother, Richard Carrol Wehr of Jasper; nine grandchildren, Anthony Foerster of Evansville, Tyler Foerster of San Diego, Cali., Michael Foerster of St. Anthony, Andrew Meyer of Greenwood, Nicholas Miller of Muncie, Leah Miller of Jasper, Danielle Davis of Nashville, Tenn., Megan Wehr of Huntingburg, and Brooke Wehr of Fishers; four great-grandchildren, Noah Meyer, Rylie Meyer, Talen Foerster, and Paisley Foerster.

Funeral services for Joseph William Wehr will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Huntingburg.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.  A parish rosary prayer service followed by a Y.M.I. vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
