Joseph W. Kunkler, 81, St. Anthony

Joseph W. Kunkler, 81, St. Anthony, passed away at 12:10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Brookdale of Carmel in Carmel.

Joe was born on May 1, 1935, in St. Anthony, Indiana to Edward and Selma (Hasenour) Kunkler. He married Rita Bromm on June 29, 1963, in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Joe retired from JOFCO in Jasper after many years of service. He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish – St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, being outdoors, woodworking, and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Kunkler of St. Anthony; three daughters, Sharon Kunkler and husband Kori Giese, Fishers, Linda Niewedde and husband Andy of Indianapolis and Donna McCullough and husband Mike of Ellettsville, Ind.; one son, Ron Kunkler of Bloomington; two grandchildren, Brittany and Nick McCullough; two sisters, Ann Laughlin and husband Thomas of Springfield, Ill. and Mary Elizabeth Gross of Jasper; three brothers,  Dr. Arnold Kunkler and wife Barbara of Indianapolis, Edward Kunkler of Los Angeles, Cali. and Kenneth Kunkler and wife Julie of St. Anthony.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Urban P. Kunkler.

Funeral services for Joseph W. Kunkler will be held at 11:00 a.m on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in St. Anthony with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

There will be no visitation.
