Joseph Mehling, 63

Joseph Mehling, 63, of Ferdinand, passed away, Friday, September 5, 2014 at his home.

Joe was born December 15, 1950 to Hugo and Verena (Metzger) Mehling in Ferdinand. He married Judy Ebert on November 18, 1972 in St. Ferdinand Church.

Joe was owner and operator of JJ’s Express Lube in Ferdinand, Ferdinand Farm Service and Joe Mehling Trucking. Joe was a 1968 graduate of Forest Park High School. He enjoyed playing cards, raising beef cattle and grilling outdoors. Joe was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish and also Ferdinand Chamber of Commerce.

Joe is survived by his wife, Judy Mehling of Ferdinand; one daughter, Jill Zazzetti and husband Tony, of Ferdinand; three sons, Doug and wife Cheryl, of St. Anthony, Greg and wife Joni, of Dubois, and Jeff Mehling and wife Tracy, of Bretzville; nine sisters, Anna Rose Altman and husband, Tom, Eileen Hauser and husband, Fred, Bernita Fleck and husband, John, Evelyn Hasenour and husband, Tom, and Katie Mehling, all of Ferdinand, Agnes Leadingham and companion John of Beckley, W.V., Marietta Hagedorn and husband, Don, of Waverly Ky., Lucille Weissenberger of Long Beach Cali., and Dolores Hasenour and husband, Gary, of Celestine; one brother Ray Mehling and wife Sheryl of Bretzville; nine grandchildren also survive.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Monday and 7:00-9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand. Funeral services will be at 10:00am on Tuesday in St. Ferdinand Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
