Joseph E. “Joe” Mundy, 57
Joseph E. “Joe” Mundy, 57, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 5:13 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
He was born September 8, 1957 in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Leroy and Rosemary (Olinger) Mundy.
He graduated from Southridge High School, received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame, and graduated from the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin.
Joe worked as a banker for 31 years with the same bank in Dubois County. The bank changed names through acquisitions, originally starting as First National Bank and then becoming Integra Bank and finally Old National Bank. He was currently employed as the General Manager for the Dubois County Bombers baseball team.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg; the Y.M.I. Club; the Huntingburg Foundation’s Board of Directors; the Huntingburg Event and Community Center board president; a former board member of the Huntingburg Chamber of Commerce; treasurer for the Southridge Lettermens Club Board of Directors; board member and former treasurer of the Notre Dame Club of Southwest Indiana; former board member and mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dubois County; former basketball and football coach for Southwest Dubois County School Corporation; former board member of Southern Hills Counseling Center; board member of Friends of Southern Hills; and active participant in the WITZ Forecasters Club.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Mundy, who died February 20, 2007.
He is survived by his mother, Rosemary Mundy of Huntingburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Paul Mundy and his wife Gretchen of Huntingburg; by three sisters and three brother-in-laws, Kathy Schmidt and her husband Mark of Jasper, Mary Uebelhor and her husband Mike of Huntingburg, and Jean Lancaster and her husband Todd of Washington, Ind.
Funeral services for Joe Mundy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Huntingburg.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. A parish rosary and Y.M.I. prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donation can be made to the Dubois County Community Foundation.
