Joseph C. Steffen, 63, of Ireland, passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Cathedral Health Care Center in Jasper.

Joe was born in Jasper, Indiana on January 12, 1953, to Clarence and Verena (Kunkler) Steffen. He married Jan Padgett on August 10, 1973, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Joe retired from Jasper Engines and Transmissions after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Huntingburg Seventh-day Adventist Church. He enjoyed helping with his church and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Steffen of Ireland; two sons, Derek Steffen and wife Michelle of Jasper and Ryan Steffen of Cincinnati, Ohio; one daughter, Keisha Creager and husband Mark of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Brooks and Caroline Creager, Madelynn and Reid Steffen, and Alayna and Nathan Steffen; two sisters, Mary Jane Klee of Jasper and Juliana Nordhoff and husband John of Bloomington; one brother, Lenny Steffen and wife Mary of Colorado

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Funeral services for Joseph C. Steffen will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana with burial to follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Jasper. Brian Wilson will officiate.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
