John William Masterson Sr., 80, Jasper

John William Masterson Sr., 80, of Jasper, formerly of Huntingburg, died at Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March 9, 2025. 

John was born October 23, 1944 in Cannelton, Ind., to John A and Mary Rose (Holmes) Masterson. 

His family moved to St Charles, Mo., when he was seven.

John worked at ABC Produce from an early age until his family moved back to Indiana in 1973. John told many stories about working at the fruit stand and how he could toss and catch watermelons with one hand.  

Preceding him in death are his parents; sister, Wanda Perkins; brothers, Jesse and Jay; first wife, Patricia Bizelli Masterson Bruner; second wife, Mary Jean (Jeanie) Kendall; and son, Gerald Anthony (Jerry).

Surviving are sons, John (JoAnn) of Loogootee, Lawrence Theodore (Ted) of Jasper, Patrick Adam (Sharon) of Jasper, and Eric Troy of St Charles, Mo.; brother Paul Richard (Sandy) of St Charles, Mo.; along with numerous grandkids and great grandkids.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. 

Internment to be at Birdseye (King) Cemetery in Birdseye next to his love, Jeanie.
