John W. Robinson, 80, Huntingburg

John W. Robinson, 80, of Huntingburg, succumbed to his long fight with congestive heart failure and is now cradled in the arms of the Divine once more.

John was born on October 6, 1937, in Plymouth, Ind. He and his family moved to Culver, Ind. shortly after he was born.

After graduating from tech school and then Purdue University with a degree in electrical engineering, he moved to Jasper and was employed by Kimball Electronics. He first worked on electronic organ design, registering many patents for components of the organs in his name and later was tasked with many different things from hazardous waste management and first responder training to IT development and security.

After 38 years he retired but continued to take online courses and audio courses to expand his knowledge on many topics. He also earned his ham radio extra license, which had been a lifelong dream.

John is survived by his wife of 26 years, Tere Robinson; his sister, Marizetta Kenney of Culver; two children, Connie Thornbury of Evansville and David Robinson of Huntingburg; two stepchildren, Aaron Sahlhoff  and Jennifer Gallant, both of Evansville; niece, Alethea Bainbridge (David); nephew Jeff Kenney (Beth); six stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Robinson; and by his parents Harold and Martha (Werner) Robinson.
