John W. Nicholson

John W. Nicholson, 65, of Jasper, passed away at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, February 26, 2015, at his home in Jasper.

He was born in Evansville, Indiana on December 26, 1949 to John and Inez Clair (Sermersheim) Nicholson. He married Ann Hohl on October 27, 1984 in the Neu Chapel, Evansville, Indiana.

John was a graduate of Jasper High School Class of 1968 and graduate from Indiana State University in 1973 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a US Army veteran serving in Berlin. He retired from JOFCO in Jasper where he had worked for 22 years.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Men’s CHRP and the Jasper Gun Club.

He enjoyed boating and fishing at Patoka; volunteering at St. Vincent DePaul Society; and also working in his garden.

He is survived by his wife Ann Nicholson; daughters, Hannah Bayer and husband Nicholas of Mokena, Ill. and Molly Nicholson of Jasper; son, Andrew Nicholson and wife Jacy of Jasper; two grandchildren, Adam and Quin; sisters, Jane Schwartz and husband Mike of Indianapolis and Anne Menard and husband Bill of Dyer, Ind.; brother,
Tommy Nicholson and wife Cheryl of Greenwood, Ind.

Funeral services for John Nicholson will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2015, in Holy family Catholic Church with burial to follow at a later date. V.F.W. Post # 673 in Jasper will conduct military rites.

Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services on Monday at church. CHRP Prayer Service will be held at 1:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church – Lange-Fuchs Cancer Center or to the Dubois County Humane Society.
