John W. Freyberger, 95, Haysville

John W. Freyberger, 95, of Haysville, passed away at 6:20 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018, at his home.

He was born in Daviess County, Indiana, on October 2, 1922, to Grover and Maddie (Huebner) Freyberger. He married Mary Jean Goodman on October 19, 1946, at Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana.

John served in the Navy Air Corp. during World War II. He retired from the Jasper Rubber Products Company in Jasper where he worked for 36 years. He is a member of Christ Lutheran Church and American Legion Post # 147 in Jasper. He enjoyed IU Basketball, gardening and Bingo.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean Freyberger; two daughters, Jonna L. Frick (Dean) of Evansville and Kimberly A. Thomas of St. Augustine, Fla.; nine grandchildren; Ryan Baer, Molly Baer, Ashley Baer, Lesley Baer, Quinn Pickett, Pvt 1st Class Paul Thomas, Michaela Thomas, Hannah Fischer and Hillarie Schmett; 13 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are sisters; Marie Burton, Hilda Leinenbach, Lucille Freyberger and Gladys Marlatt; one half-sister, Lilly Penny.

Funeral services for John Freyberger will be held at 11 :00 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2018, at Christ Lutheran Church with burial to follow in Community Cemetery in Haysville, Indiana. American Legion Post # 147 in Jasper will conduct Military Grave Side rites.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel and one hour before services on Monday at church.
