John W. Fischer, 87

John W. Fischer, age 87, of Huntingburg, passed away at 1:56 a.m., Friday, December 13, 2013, at the Providence Home Healthcare Center in Jasper.
He was born March 23, 1926 in Dale, Indiana to Frank William and Margaret (Klein) Fischer.
He married Mary P. Pfeifer on April 11, 1953 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Tell City, Indiana.
Mr. Fischer worked at J. Winkler & Sons; was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg; was a United States Naval veteran of World War II; and loved doing carpentry work and helping his kids with remodeling projects.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Mary P. Fischer, who passed away December 7, 2006; two brothers, Bob Fischer and James Fischer; and four sisters, Bernice Fleck, Margaret Eble, Virginia Arvin, and infant Virginia Fischer.
He is survived by his two daughters and two son-in-laws, Flo (Hunter) (spouse: Patrick) Kellems of Tell City, and Mary (spouse: Dean) Becher of Ferdinand; four sons and three daughter-in-laws, Philip (spouse: Debbie) Fischer of Huntingburg, Greg (spouse: Leola) Fischer of Boonville, James “Jake” (spouse: Mary Jo) Fischer of Huntingburg, and Eric Fischer of St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, Frank Fischer of Huntingburg; and 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services for John W. Fischer will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery (Huntingburg). Military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday. A parish rosary prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, at the funeral home.
