John Thomas Gilmore, 63, Birdseye

John Thomas Gilmore, 63, Birdseye, passed away on Wednesday morning, October 5, 2016, at the home of his sister, Rhonda Hochgesang, in Jasper.

He was born December 30, 1952, in Huntingburg, Indiana to Kenneth and Lola (Huff) Gilmore.

He worked as a lab technician for Pepsi Cola and retired from Best Chairs. He enjoyed woodworking, raising goats and chickens, reading and watching movies.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Kenneta Merder.

He is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Lola Gilmore of Birdseye: one sister and one brother-in-law, Rhonda (Greg) Hochgesang of Jasper; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Dan (Margi) Gilmore of St. Anthony and Jim Gilmore of Sumter, S.C.: his uncle, Henry Huff of Birdseye, Ind.; by nieces and nephews.

A graveside committal service for John Thomas Gilmore will be held at 2:00 p.m. EST Saturday, October 8, 2016, at the Eckerty Cemetery in Eckerty, Indiana. Pastor Paul Newland will officiate at the graveside service. Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg has been entrusted with the burial arrangements. There will be no public visitation at the funeral home.
