John Paul Oeding, 70

John Paul Oeding, 70 of Ferdinand died Friday November 16, 2012 at Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center, Jasper. He was born July 23, 1942 in Ferdinand to Gregory & Rufina (Denning) Oeding. He married Elfrieda Kapp on April 4, 1964 in Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.
John retired from Jasper Lumber Company after 25 years, and later worked for the Sisters Of St. Benedict as a night-watchman. He served in the Army National Guard for 6 years during the Viet-Nam War. He was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish, Ferdinand American Legion Post 124, and the Jasper German Club.
Surviving are his wife Elfrieda Oeding, one daughter, Mrs. Terry (Karen) Hilsmeyer of St. Henry and one son, Steve Oeding of Tell City. Seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two sons, Rick “Tex” and Tim Oeding.
Funeral services 10:00 AM Tuesday in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, burial with military graveside services by Ferdinand Legion Post 124 in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and 7 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand.
